Harold E. Williams passed into eternal rest September 23, 2010. Harold was one of four sons born December 11, 1923, to the late Lee Roy and Allie Grey Williams in DeRidder. Harold’s loving wife, Louise A. Williams preceded him in death as
well as his brothers, Lee Roy, Clyde and Larry.
After his birth the family moved around, settling in Leesville. Harold graduated from Leesville High School in 1941 at seventeen. In December, 1942, as the war draft was getting hot, he
applied and was accepted into the Navy V-5 program in September, 1943, to train as a naval pilot (his dream and passion). Harold made it through the naval pilot program and because the war ended was released from the Navy in 1945. Next, he attended
the University of Louisiana earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Harold went to work for Winston Brothers Construction Company for many years traveling around the U.S. It was through his business travels he met and married Louise
Williams in May of 1959. Along with this package came two teenage boys, Jimmie and David.
Harold and Louise then moved to Amarillo Texas. He became a partner of Missouri Valley Construction. He retired after twenty plus years and began
golfing, traveling with friends and still flying. Poor health led them to Hemet, Calif. where they spent their quiet years enjoying their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Harold is survived by his
two step sons, Jimmie A. Giles and family of Garden Grove, Calif. and David B. Giles and family of Indio, Calif. and many nieces, nephews and friends. Harold will be remembered for his devotion to family, service to his country and the gentle, sweet
nature he exuded.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. Castor Baptist Church, Leesville. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. until service time in the church.
Interment will follow in the Castor
Cemetery, Leesville.
