Charlie L. Smith

Funeral services for Charlie L. Smith, 80, of Trout, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Fullerton Baptist Church in Fullerton, with Rev. Brad Perkins and Rev. Pat Austin officiating. Interment will follow at the Blue
Branch Cemetery in Pitkin. Visitation will be Monday starting at 5 p.m. at the church. Services are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
Charlie was born July 6, 1930 in Hicks, to Lou and Maggie Smith, and he passed
from this life on August 21, 2010 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
He was a lifetime member of the Fullerton Baptist Church, and he was a deacon for 45 years. He was an avid farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife: Jewel
Smith; his parents; three brothers: Bob Smith, Keiser Smith
and Thomas “Mug” Smith; two sisters: Opal Owens and Norma Jeter.
Survivors include one son: John Smith and his wife Angie of Jena; three daughters: Charlotte Douglas
and her husband Eddie of Turkey Creek, Lynn Martin and her husband Dwayne of Leesville, and Margie Hardwick and her husband Larry of Trout; three sisters: Tressie McCullough, Martha “Frog” Hicks and Eva Smith; eight grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Goodwin, Herman Owens, Scott Burns, Dave Smith, Rodney Smith and Dalford McCullough.
