Services for Dorca Irene (Wells) LaCaze, better known to her family and
friends as “Dot,” will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Flactor Baptist Church in Hicks, with Reverends Huey Haymon and Robert Martin (nephew) officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral
Home of Leesville, a Dignity Memorial Provider. Visitation will be held at Flactor Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 from 12 p.m. until time of the service.
Mrs. LaCaze, 85, of Hicks,
passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at 12:01 a.m. at Grace Home (Christus Cabrini Hospice) in Alexandria. Dot was born on May 4, 1925 to Anthony and Ollie Mae (Rogers) Wells. She was reared in Texas but was a resident of Louisiana most of
her adulthood (more than 50 years in Hicks). She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a wonderful homemaker and a dedicated Baptist her entire life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and their husbands,
Nola (Jeff) Grey, Artie (Noah) Martin, Bess Deason and Thelma (George) Landry; and her brothers and their wives, John (Mable) Wells, Wade (Edith) Wells and Clifton (Eulon) Wells.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 59
years, James “Jim” A. LaCaze; daughter, Glenda (LaCaze) Spurgeon; grandsons, Samuel and Stephen Spurgeon; step-grandson and his wife, Shannon (Emily) Spurgeon; step great granddaughter, Ava Spurgeon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Samuel Spurgeon, Stephen Spurgeon; nephews, Dyarell Davis, Ed LaCaze, Jr., Brent Landry and Oneal Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be step-grandson, Shannon Spurgeon and nephews, Jarome Hagan, Mark Davis and
Danny LaCaze (who were faithful in visiting and helping in various ways, but who are either out of the country or out of the state on job assignments and unable to attend the funeral).
