Linda Mills Steed

Linda Mills Steed, 72, passed from this life on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at
Baton Rouge. Her funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, a dignity memorial provider. The minister will be the Rev. Wallace Palmer.
Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery
in Greenwood, Miss. Visitation was held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Pallbearers will be Roger Morris and R.J. Fertitta, both of Leesville, Ken Veilands of Albany, Ga., John Garmany of Mansfield, Dickie Heard of
Winnfield, and Tim Trapp of Bridge City, Texas.
Linda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ronald “Ron” Steed of Denham Springs; daughter, Dr. Anna Veilands of Albany, Ga.; son, Ronald “Bubba” Steed, Jr. and wife Shanna of Denham
Springs; 4 grandchildren, Mattie, Ansley, Tre’ and Miles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Taylor Mills and Booker D. Mills.
Linda was a graduate of Greenwood (Miss.) High School in 1956. She then entered
Mississippi Women’s University where she graduated in 1959. She met and married her husband Ron and began working for the Social Security Administration until her retirement in 1988. She and Ron moved to Leesville, where Ron was the President and CEO
of Merchants & Farmers Bank until his retirement in 2002.
Linda was a member of the Mayor’s Women’s Commission, a charter member of the Pink Flamingos and a member of First Baptist Church of Leesville. She will be dearly missed by all
