Funeral services for J.B. Brister, Jr., 64, of New Llano, will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. George Jeane officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery in Leesville.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday, July 8 from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The service is under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
J.B. was the
son of J.B. Brister, Sr. and Doris Kathleen Young; he was born December 1, 1944, in Leesville, and passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.
Mr. Brister was a native and lifelong resident of Leesville. He
was a retired mechanic having worked for Leesville Truck Center and Lockheed at Fort Polk. He was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church, veteran of the National Guard and a member of American Legion Post 145 in Leesville. He had many friends in the
Leesville area.
He was preceded in death by mother, Doris Kathleen Brister; father J.B. Brister, Sr., stepfather; James V. Brister; sister, Beverly Kosan Wallace; stepmother; Jessie Brister and stepsister; Shirley Brister.
He
is survived by son Bobby Brister and wife Debbie of New Llano; daughters, Cathy Gilland Phillips and husband Lee of Anacoco, and Rhonda Brister Sauicer and husband Steven of Anacoco; brothers, Gary Brister and Luther Brister both of Leesville;
sisters, Chirty Rose Burge of Leesville, Betty Ann Cooper of Leesville, Paula Annet Blackmon of Minden; step-sisters, Helen Wyatt, Patricia Griffin, Charlotta Martin and Gwen Brister; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and
nephews.
