A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jimmie “Ruth” Dixson, of Coos
Bay, will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay, Ore., with pastor Bruce Robison officiating. A reception will follow the service at Unity By The Bay fellowship room, 2100 Union Avenue in North Bend.
A private graveside committal will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Coos Bay.
Ruth was born on February 7, 1929 in Leesville, to James M. Pelt and Jewel ( Legg ) Pelt. She passed away at her home in Coos Bay on June 18, 2010.
She was 81 years old.
Ruth attended Leesville High School and graduated class of 1947. Following high school she worked in the county clerks office. She met Carroll “Reece” Dixson while he was stationed at nearby Fort Polk. They married in
1959. The couple moved to Illinois for a brief time, and later settled in the Coos Bay Area.
Ruth was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed reading and going on walks or hikes to enjoy the beauty that surrounded her in the outdoors.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Reece Dixson, of Coos Bay, Ore.; Daughter Joyce Vegar of Lakeside, Ore.; Son David Dixson of Coos Bay, Ore.; son Samuel Dixson and his wife Mary of Damascus, Ore.; son Benjamin Dixson and his
wife Wendy of Eugene, Ore.; grandchildren Shawna, Scott, Aaron, Kyle, Kasey, Kourtney, Jeremy and Kiana; Sister LaFon Sorensen of Crosby-Eastgate, Texas; And sister Billie Lodridge of Leesville.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents
James and Jewel Pelt and her two brothers James A. Pelt and Ronnie Pelt.
