Funeral services for Melvin P. Martin of Hutton will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 3 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Mora, with Rev. Ed Basco and Rev. Walter Dixon officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends
may call Tuesday, June 1, at 12 noon until Wednesday, June 2 at 8 a.m. in the funeral home, then Wednesday June 2 from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday June 3 in the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Melvin, the son of Gene and Tempie Snell Martin, was born January 11, 1927 in Hutton. He passed away Sunday, May 30 in Leesville.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy. He retired from Kelly Weber
Wholesale after 33 years. He loved to hunt turkey and deer, had a passion for his cows and was an avid farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sherwin Martin; and grandson, Chad Bryant.
He is survived by his wife
of 63 years, Bonnie Martin of Hutton; sons, Darnell Martin and wife Theresa of Anacoco, Dannis Martin and wife Susan of Simpson; daughters, Lannis Martin of Hutton and Natalie Stephens of Leesville; sister, Vergie Martin LaCaze of Leesville;
grandchildren Mike Martin and wife Rachel, Jarrod Martin and wife Whitney, Kevin Martin, Kade Stephens, Misti Bryant and Kortni Shackleford; great grandchildren Aiden Martin and Abigail Martin.
