Funeral services for Myrtle Mae Mitcham, 97, of Leesville will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Leesville with Bro. Jerry Penfield, Bro. Wallace Palmer and Bro. Randy Humphrey officiating. Burial
will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville. Visitation will be Sunday, April 25 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mitcham, the daughter of Henry Alvin and Carrie Gertrude Smith Fisher, was
born on October 8, 1912, in Kisatchie. She passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1947, where she served as Secretary and Treasurer in
the church’s Sunday School Department for many years. She had a Master of Science degree from Northwestern State University. She taught math and science in Vernon Parish for over 30 years, teaching at Pitkin, Anacoco and Evans. Mrs. Mitcham was a
marvelous cook and enjoyed cooking for family get-togethers. She also had a green thumb and loved the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Johnie Mitcham and sister, Marzelle Shivers.
She is
survived by her sons, Sherrod and wife, Gail Mitcham of Monroeville, Ala, and Tommy and wife, Jana Cossey Mitcham of Cypress, Texas; brother, Ardron Fisher of Chatsworth, Calif.; beloved sister, Johnnie Mahony of Leesville; five grandchildren, Amanda
Nall, Catherine Mosley, Rhett Mitcham, Jeff Mitcham and Kimberly Humphrey and nine great grandchildren, Ashley Mosley, Rachel Mosley, Mikala Nall, John Nall, Ethan Mitcham, K’land Humphrey, Raegan Mitcham, Connor Mitcham and Avery
Mitcham.
