Funeral services for Amanda Dowden Betts will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in the chapel of
Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend David Elkins and Michael Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Kisatchie Cemetery in Kisatchie. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Blanchard St.
Denis.
Mrs. Betts, 88, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010. She was born on April 7, 1921 to the late Steven Grant Dowden and late Belle Rhodes Dowden in Kisatchie. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Bettts and her
first husband, Hercel Chance as well as her son, Gerald Reed and daughter, Gloria V. Fox.
Mrs. Betts was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and
grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Chance and his wife Linda of Kisatchie and Donald Chance and his wife Donna of Natchitoches; daughter, Vicki Dwyer of Natchitoches;
sister, Rozelle Murray of Nacogdoches, Texas; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include River Sevario, Steven Dowden, Billy Chance, Earl Gentry, Terry Aubin and Scheryl Murray.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Alford.
