Funeral services for George James Stephens, 74, of Leesville, will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1p.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville with Rev. M.C. Green, Rev. John Burns and Rev. Jon Welch officiating. Burial
will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery in Leesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 16 from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
George, the
son of Willie and Lula Gibson Stephens was born, on May 11, 1935 in Leesville.
He passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Woodlands Health Care Center in Leesville. Mr. Stephens lived his whole life in Leesville. He married Ruth
O’Banion and was married to her until her death three years ago. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville. He served his country in the military. He loved his family, kids and grandkids and will be sadly, sadly missed by
all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years Ruth O’Banion Stephens; brother C. F. Stephens; and sisters Marie Langton and Joann Harbin.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Charles Welch (wife,
Glenda), Pam Castillo (husband, Leo), Billie Thomason (husband, Tom), Teddie Medina (husband, Ray), Glynn Welch, Brenda Whatley (husband, Dewayne), Adrian Smart (husband, Jerry), Gary Cothen; brothers, J.J. Stephens, David Stephens, Wayne Stephens,
Gilmer Glenn Stephens; a host of step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
