Funeral services for Robert Watson, 63, of Merryville will be held on Sunday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Interment will follow at the Merryville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on
Saturday, February 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, February 21 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
Survivors are his brother, Thomas Watson of Merryville.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, C.H. and Doris Watson.
Mr. Watson was a graduate of Tulane University and attended Rice University, the University of Parish and University of Missouri. He taught at South Beauregard, New University School in
New Orleans and the University of Missouri.
Robert worked for the Entertainment Branch at Fort Polk for some years where his original rock opera, Oedipus Rocks premiered. He was a founding member of the Impromptu Players in DeRidder
and also performed on stage at Fort Polk and with ACTS Theatre in Lake Charles.
