ARTHUR WILLIAMS

Arthur Williams, 93 of Lenexa, KS, passed away Thursday, February 11 at the Shawnee Mission Medical
Center in KS.
Arthur was born on May 16, 1916 in Leesville. He was a decorated WWII Veteran serving under General George Patton and finished his 23 years of service as a Budget Analyst at Fort Polk. Arthur also owned a Western Auto
Store for 22 years.
His greatest accomplishment was being an obedient and faithful Christian. He had served as a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon and choir director at the First Baptist Church in Leesville. In 2008, Arthur was honored
for his 70 years of participation in the choir where he and his wife, Dorothy Jean, sang beautiful duets together. Their last duet was at his grandson’s wedding in 2007 and was “Just a Closer Walk with Thee”.
Arthur is survived by his
wife of 70 years, Dorothy Jean Williams; daughter, Betty Jean “BJ” Williams and husband Dick Paschall of Olathe, KS; grandson Blaine Lindsey and wife Holli Hamilton Lindsey of San Francisco, CA; nephew, Jackie Self and family, along with many close
relatives and friends in Louisiana, Texas and Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen Williams; infant daughter, Joanna; brothers, Jack and George Moore Self.
A memorial service will be held
at a later date in Leesville.
Family members ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Leesville at 1400 Nolan Trace Street.
