Ruth worked for the Vernon Parish School Board as a cafeteria manager at Leesville High School for 30 years. After retirement, she joined the Senior Circle as a volunteer at Byrd Regional Hospital. She was a life-long
member of East Leesville Baptist Church. Very rarely were the doors to her beloved church open when she was not present. In times of need, Ruth was always there giving of herself to her many friends. She was one of the most caring, kind and
compassionate women you would ever meet.
Ruth took so much pride in her three sons, Wayne, Jerry and Mike. How she loved her “boys”! They were so devoted to their very special mother. One of her greatest joys in her life was her twin
granddaughters, Jessica and Cortney. She was so blessed to be their grandmother. Ruth’s granddaughters could have searched the world over and never found a more loving and giving Maw Maw. She taught them love, humility and caring. They were truly the
light of her life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; Hardy Nessmith and Mable Doolittle Nessmith; her loving husband of 38 years, Quinten; and her brothers, Edward “Sonny-Boy” Nessmith and James “Buddy” Nessmith.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne, Jerry and Mike Cavanaugh, all of Leesville; granddaughters Cortney and Jessica Cavanaugh of Leesville; sisters, Margaret Arthur and Mary Potts, both of Ferriday and Martha McClure and husband Sonny of
