Funeral services for George Gayle Simmons, Sr., 73, will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Galilee Baptist Church in Evans. Mr. Simmons passed away on January 9, 2010 in Evans.
Officiating will be Rev.
Kenny Lowrey and Rev. George Jeane, and interment will be at Evans Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Galilee Baptist Church in Evans.
Mr. Simmons was born on October 11, 1936. He was a
member of the Galilee Baptist Church of Evans and was a member of the International Louisiana Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 716 in Houston, Texas for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Wilma Simmons
and one brother, Charles Steele Simmons, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Simmons of Evans; two sons, “G.G.” George Simmons Jr. and wife Kim of West Columbia, Texas and Ron Simmons and wife Ann of Evans; his sister, Mary
Williams of Evans; his brother, Frank Simmons, Jr. of Gulfport Ms; eight grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
