Funeral services for Laurel Monk, 94, of Leesville will be held Thursday, December 17 at 2 p.m. at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Laurel Hill with Rev. Shawn Waggner officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 16 from 4 p.m.
until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mrs. Monk
was born in Dido and she lived most of her life in the Laurel Hill Community. She formerly was a seamstress at Ft. Polk and also a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church for over 80 years. She was a loving mother,
grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Monk, son, Olen Monk and daughter, Velvia Squyres.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Ingalls of Lacamp; one daughter-in-law,
Carrol Monk of Hineston; four brothers, Morgan Wellman of Lacamp, Wayford Wellman of Buna, Texas, Herman Wellman of Hineston and L.E. Wellman of Texas; one sister, Myrtie Welch of Leesville; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 20 great great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Ingalls, Jeremy Ingalls, Greg Umphries, Glen Parkins, Royce Monk and Ross Monk.
