Funeral services for Julian D. Neal, 81, of Leesville will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 16,
2009 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morris D. Goins officiating. The burial will follow in the Alexandria National Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, December 15 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday, December 16 from 8 a.m.
until time of service at the chapel. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mr. Neal was born in Hornbeck the son of Arley and Lillie Mae Tilley Neal. He passed away Saturday, December 12,
2009 in his residence in Leesville.
Julian retired from the U.S. Army in 1973 as a SFC E-7, during which he served two tours in Vietnam and also received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Sabine Disabled American Veterans,
Chapter 21 in Many. Further, Julian had a passion for history and loved helping his grandchildren with their history homework, often times knowing more than the history books themselves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife Virginia Neal; and his siblings, James and Hollis Neal, Estelle Brown, Myrtie Ford and Leverne Vogel.
He is survived by his sons, David Neal of Leesville and Billy Neal of New Orleans; daughters, Betty Foley of Kuwait and
Jeannette (husband, Bill) Simms of Leesville; grandchildren, David Joseph Neal, Christopher Ryan Neal, Sabrina Foley, Christina Engstrom, Brandy Simms and Shawn-Michael Simms and four great grandchildren.
