Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held in Castor Baptist Church Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ed
Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Castor Cemetery under the direction of Smart & Son Funeral Home in Leesville.
Virgil, 65, passed away quietly in his home Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
A Baptist and a deer
hunter, he enjoyed many things. He retired from the Leesville Water Dept with 32 years of service.
Survivors are his wife, Helen Phillips of Leesville; sons Johnny and Rickey Phillips, both of Leesville; three daughters, Christina
Culpepper and Judy McGee, both of Leesville and Julie Branco of Colorado Springs, CO; two stepsons, Nathan Johnson of Krum, TX and Jason Johnson of Leesville; a brother, Clarence Phillips of Leesville and two sisters, Donna Austin and Jessie
Cummings, both of Leesville; six grandchildren, three-step grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Virgil’s parents, Jesse and Essie Allbritton Phillips precede him in death along with a brother, Billy Phillips and two sisters,
Margie Thompson and Denise Vickars.
Pallbearers are Justin Phillips, Mark Phillips, Donnie Heberling, John Brister, David Brister, A.J. Brister, Jack Cummings and Raymond Phillips.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 10
p.m. Friday in the funeral home, and from 9 a.m. Saturday at the church until time of services.
