Funeral services for Marvin Simpson Stewart, 89, will be held at Smart and Son Funeral Home in Leesville, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Tilley and Rev. Danny Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove
Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Smart and Son.
Marvin passed away Wednesday November 11, 2009 in the Veteran’s Hospital in Shreveport. He was a veteran of WW II, Eighth Air Force, 379th Bomber Division. He was employed at
Crosby Chemical in DeRidder for over 12 years, was a building contractor in Vernon Parish for several years and the owner of Leesville Jewelers in Leesville. He was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Leesville and a
Gideon.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Lea Andrews Stewart of Leesville; daughters Charlotte Shuster of Vidor, Texas and Peggy Gore, (Michael) of Leesville; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his parents William Simpson Stewart and Vera Hudson Stewart Dowden and his brothers Red Stewart and Eugene Dowden.
Visitation will be Friday November 13 from 5–9 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of the
service.
