Funeral services for Helen M. Johns, 64, of Leesville will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 10 at
the New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville, Rev. L.C. Williams and Rev. Clennon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lake Charles. Friends may visit Friday, October 9 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., in the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to First Saint Paul Baptist Church Inc. (501 N. 9th Street in Leesville) after visitation on Friday night. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Helen, the
daughter of Nelson and Helen Jones Roberts was born on June 8, 1945 in Lafayette. She passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at her residence in Leesville. Mrs. Johns had been a resident of Leesville since 1981; she was a cook at Vernon Middle
School and formerly was a supervisor at Popeye’s for 17 years; she was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Charles at a young age and attended First St. Paul’s Baptist Church while she lived in Leesville. She was known and loved by
all.
She is survived by her sons, Michael W. “Mickey” (wife, Gwendolyn) Roberts of Leesville and Jonathan Paul (wife, Christina) Roberts of New Llano; stepdaughter Patricia (husband, Billy) Hickman of Leesville; brothers, Nelson
Roberts Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Joseph Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lormand Roberts of San Diego, Calif. and Raymond Roberts of Lake Charles; sisters Nellie Ann Gibson and Gretchen Hill of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Joshua Cordell
Roberts, Jaylan Patrick Roberts, and Jonathan Paul Roberts, Jr.
