Mr. Grant was born on June 1, 1906 to Mr. and Mrs. I. T. and Elizabeth Caldwell Grant in Coushatta.
After being a member of the Catholic Church, Oscar attended Mt.
Zion Methodist Church in Leesville. We would hear the long prayers that he prayed for his children as he rested in his room. Our daddy, as we called him, was a wonderful farmer who provided us and others with the best of produce. Raising livestock
was a passion of our daddy. He personally oversaw the care of his cows until 1995. He and his wife Maggie loved fishing together. Mr. Oscar worked a long time in the construction business. He loved to tell how he helped build many of the roads and
buildings in Leesville.
Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mrs. Maggie Mae Grant.
Oscar is survived by his brother, Walter Grant of Tuskegee, Ala.; his sons, Oscar Grant, Jr. and A. D.
Spencer (Sonny), Issac (I.T.) Grant and Bishop Harold Grant and wife Linda, all of Leesville.; son Nolan Grant and wife Dianne of Mineral Wells, Texas and James Spenser of Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Nancy
Gardner and husband, Larry and Evelyn Graham and husband David, both of Leesville; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
