Mrs. Elizabeth Ashworth, 80, of Leesville, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 at St. Francis Cabrini
Hospital in Alexandria.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Gil Arthur and Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Pine Island
Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mrs. Ashworth was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish. She retired from the U.S. Army civil service as a nurse’s assistant. Mrs. Ashworth was a longtime member of Sandy Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school
director, church clerk / treasurer. She was more recently a member of East Leesville Baptist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Lonnie Ashworth; brothers, Fred
Bolton, Ted Bolton and Curtis Bridges and sister, Jenette Bolton.
She is survived by her daughters Bobbie Jean Benson, Bonita Berry ( Mike), Lonnie Sue Thomas, Charline Canady ( Gene) and Tamara RuNell Vincent “Tammy” ( Jay) all of
Leesville; son John Ellis Ashworth “Sam” ( Sue) of Pineville; sister Lucy Lee Chism of Hornbeck; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a host of nephews and nieces.
