James Fred Bricker

James Fred Bricker, a native of Leesville, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the age of 85. He graduated from Leesville High School in 1942. He proudly served his country during World War II, landing on Omaha Beach in the D-Day
invasion of Normandy. He served throughout Europe and also in the Pacific during the occupation of Japan. His country called upon him again, and he was sent to Korea where he served in the Korean War. He returned to Leesville and retired from a
life-long career of service at Fort Polk. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3106 in Leesville and also served as the post commander.
He is preceded in death by his son, James Henry Bricker and his grandson,
Jon Creighton Congemi. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alphia “Penny” Bricker; his daughter, Joyce Bricker Congemi Gilleece; and his granddaughter Kellen Congemi Macatee.
Service will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville
at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 with the Reverend Jimmie Evans III officiating and burial at Pine Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
