Funeral services for J.L. “Red” Smith Sr., of Anacoco will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Wallace Palmer and D.R. Davis officiating. The burial will follow in
the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco. Friends may visit from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 and on Wednesday, July 8 from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in
Leesville.
Mr. Smith passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 at his residence in Anacoco. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anacoco. Mr. Smith loved farming. He retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Motor
Vehicles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Ruby Smith of Anacoco; children, Lynda Williamson of Westlake, Fredia Nelson and husband Tim, of Anacoco, Charles Smith of Mattapoisett, Mass., Sherman Smith and wife Laura of
Annapolis, Md.; daughter-in-law, Michele Smith of Searchlight, Nev.; two sisters, Denzel McLain of Lehi, Utah and Loretta Loftin of Rosepine; grandchildren, Casey and Rory Williamson, Dana Zimmerman, Christina Zambrano, Tim Nelson, Zachary, Chris and
Joe Smith, Amanda Peno, Jared Smith, and Jake Bolton; one great-granddaughter Cera Zimmerman; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Sim Smith, mother Myrtie Allen, son J. L. “Sonny”
Smith, grandson Jason Smith and brother Anson D. Smith.
