Donovan “Don” Blake Finch

Don B. Finch , born June 5, 1936, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at LSU Medical Center
in Shreveport.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel of Leesville with the Rev. Jerry Penfield and Rev. Wallace Palmer officiating. A burial with full military honors will
follow in Kilbourne Cemetery in Kilbourne under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009, at Hixson Chapel of Leesville.
Survivors
include his loving wife of 29 years, Marie Hitti Finch of Leesville; sons, Ernest Finch of Leesville, William C. Finch of West Virginia, Sidney D. Finch and wife Heather of Maryland; daughter, Donna Armstrong and husband Charlie of Virginia; sisters,
Ethelyn Prine and husband Lavelle of Ohio, Marilyn Chandler and husband Thomas of Oklahoma; mother, Lillie Ethel Harper Finch of Ohio; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William Ernest
Finch.
Don was a native of Kilbourne, and had been a resident of Leesville since 1990. He proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 21 years of service. He is a Vietnam veteran. While retired he worked with FRG at Fort
Polk. He was a distinguished Toast Master speaker and a member of the Pelican Chapter of the U.S. Army Officers Club. While living in the state of Maryland, he ran for the senate race in 1981.
Don also published the book, “Israel the
PLO and You.” During his career, he worked for Byrd Regional Hospital as facility manager. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge #240 of Leesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of
