Bessie McCullough

Funeral services for Bessie McCullough, 96, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Pitkin with Revs. John Everret and Hardy Estes officiating.
Interment will follow in the Blue Branch
Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.
McCullough, of Pitkin, passed away May 13, 2009 in St. Frances Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oberlin. She was a lifelong resident of Pitkin and a
member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for over 85 years.
Her husband, M. L. McCullough, her daughter, Pauline Johnson and her parents, Crockett and Mary Ellen Perkins Johnson precedes her in death.
Mrs. McCullough is
survived by one son, Jimmie McCullough and wife Sybil of Pitkin; three daughters, Elaine Strother of Pitkin, Charlotte Taliaferro and husband Jerry of Pitkin and Frances Aitken and husband Walter of Keller, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Nealon James,
Gordon James, Lisa Franklin, Perry Strother, Rene’ Johnson, Keith Johnson, Tonya Tilley, Kim Haymon, Rhonda McCullough, Dacia Alexander and Jared Melancon; one sister, Beulah Dennis of Pitkin; 23 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren
and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and by each life he she touched in her own
special way, especially with her wonderful cooking.
Pallbearers will be Perry Strother, Rene’ Johnson, Keith Johnson, Jared Melancon, Kevin James and Keith James.
The family will be receiving friends from 5-10 p.m.
Thursday, May 14 and from 8 a.m. until time of service Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Pitkin.
