Elsie Mae Johnson

Funeral services for Elsie Mae Johnson, 65, will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Gravel Hill Baptist Church of Pitkin with Rev. Jeff James, Rev. Scott Burns and Rev. Arlene Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel
Hill Cemetery, Pitkin, under the direction of Hixson of Leesville.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville and then moving to the church on Saturday, March 28, 2009,
9 a.m until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
Elsie passed from this life on March 26, 2009, at her residence in Pitkin. Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Travis Johnson; one daughter, Sherry Jeter and husband Randy;
two sons, James I. “Charlie” Johnson and wife Connie and Robert Earl Johnson, all of Pitkin; one son by choice, John Hughes and wife Sybil of Orange, Texas; four grandsons, Timmy Jeter and wife Natasha of Pitkin, Daniel Johnson and wife Kim of
Glenmora, John Johnson and Jesse Johnson of Pitkin, two great granddaughters, Lauren Grace Jeter and Tinslee Jade Jeter both of Pitkin; two sisters, Faye Johnson of Pitkin and Janice Kay McCray of Cotile; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by one daughter, Bernadine Johnson and her parents, Otis and Bessie Potter.
Ms. Elsie was born in LaCamp. She and Travis had been married 52 years and raised three loving children. She drove a school bus for 30 years
with the Vernon Parish School system. Ms. Elsie loved flowers, her vegetable garden and most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
