Funeral services for Hubert Marland Williams will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, in the Chapel of Smart & Son Funeral Home of Leesville with Rev. Otis Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wales
Cemetery in Slagle with the Leesville Lodge #240 conducting Masonic rites.
Mr. Williams, 84, passed away March 20, 2009, in Beaumont, Texas.
A native of Slagle, he lived and worked in the Port Neches-Groves area most of
his life. He was a member of the Port Neches Lodge 1163. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. He retired from the City of Port Neches. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Paul and Alpha Wales Williams; a brother, Otho Williams; and three sisters, Irene and Lillian Williams and Ethel Galloway.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Saunders Williams of Groves; one son, Charles Williams and
his wife Shelia of Liberty, Texas; two daughters, Cathy Shajari and her husband Charles of Beaumont, and Loretta Moore and her husband Otis of Groves; grandchildren, Brian Shajari, Kallie Shajari, Kelley Moore, Kimberly Loper, Jared Williams and
Courtney Yeater; and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors are his brothers, Tommy Lee Williams and William Williams, both of Slagle; along with his sisters, Maybelline Gregg and Pauline Vanckhoven, both of Conroe, Texas, and Annette Turner of
Leesville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, March 22, 2009, in Smart & Son Funeral Home of Leesville.
