Pearl Rae Leach

Pearl Rae Leach, 72, of Lake Charles died at 7:34 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Leach was born in Pitkin and graduated from Pitkin High School in 1955. After high school she attended and graduated
from McNeese State University in 1959 with a degree in teaching. She received her Masters Degree in teaching from Louisiana State University in 1966. Mrs. Leach worked for the Cameron Parish School Board as a teacher for many years. She taught math
at South Cameron High School and Grand Lake High School. She was an assistant principal and principal at Grand Lake High School. Mrs. Leach proudly served on the Cameron Parish School Board.
Mrs. Leach was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Lake Charles for many years. She taught third grade Sunday school for over forty years. Mrs. Leach was a member of the Sewing Community. She taught classes on quilting and was the proud owner of her own shop called ” Heartstrings Quilts and
More.” She loved spending time with her family and the friends she made over the years.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Darrow Leach of Lake Charles, two sons, Francis Darrow Leach and wife Julie and Joel Hilton Leach and
wife Ruth all of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Lillian Hilton Vernon of Lake Charles; two brothers, Whit Hilton of Gramby, Mass. and Lewis Hilton of Montgomery, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be
held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. John White will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue at 8 a.m. until the time of
services on Monday. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at the cemetery.
